The Quiet World [for sanephiroth]
Something, somehow, went horribly wrong.
The last thing he remembered was racing towards the massive machine the Nifs had built in the middle of their compound, then hearing something over head like a storm cloud. In a second between one shot and the next, though he's pretty sure he had missed because of the thick smoke, he had a chance to glance up. There, above them all, bigger than anything he had ever seen in his life, stood what could only be one of the Astrals, charging with lightning that jumped over his skin and staff. It would be the last image he would carry with him for a while because when the Astral struck the machine at Noctis' command, the resulting explosion sent him into darkness.
"Hnn..."
The faint groan as his head started to realize consciousness was a thing. Ow... his whole body was achingly sore, so was his head, but all he could do was slowly turn over onto his side, trying to piece together any two thoughts beyond 'ow' and 'ow'. While most would have panicked that their weapon wasn't in hand, if he had gotten unconscious or heck, even so much as dropped it, it would disappear into the armiger to be resummoned, so that was less of a concern as making sure no limbs where broken. Okay, arms moved, legs moved, hands, toes... all right!
Until he opened his eyes and realized he had no idea where he was in the least. Nothing about this place - it looked like some sort of weird warehouse, maybe? - looked familiar, other than sort of disturbing similararity to something out of Nifelheim. Prompto drew himself up, listening carefully. No foot steps, no signs of anyone never mind his friends. What happened-- oh right, the giant old thunder man, Noctis! Where are they?! Did he like, get blown so far away that no one knew where he was?!
So he scrambled up to his feet, looking around, then headed for the door.
He had no idea that the clunkclunk of his heavy boots were catching the ears of something out there, hunting, hungry.

Promptyx 'Taur AU
So, maybe he'd been wrong about actually knowing how to get from the entrance Noctis had told him to go through to where Noctis' room actually was when he was on his own. Every other time, Noctis had met him at the door and walked with him through the Citadel, and he'd been so sure on the path! Except now... he was totally lost. Even his attempt to back track the way he'd come had resulted in failure making him even more lost!
Prompto slumped, tail tucked so far between his legs he wasn't sure it was ever coming up again. Had he been down this hall before? One front paw lifted, hesitated, before he looked back the way he came. No, he hadn't, he was sure of it. Even a few careful sniffs proved not only was his scent no where to be found, but nothing of Noctis', either. Not even the scent of a cat like the royal families. The idea of calling Noctis and telling his friend that he was lost inside his giant amazing castle sounded like the most embarrassing thing ever at this point, but so was being found looking like an idiot.
It was bad enough he still got looks from people whenever he was around the Citadel because yeah yeah canine woof woof he wasn't like the domestic cats of the rest of Insomnia. He just... lied, a little. It was so much easier to say he was wolf than dog. Slump. A soft whine escaped him as his butt thumped down and he pulled out his cell phone from his vest pocket. It seemed like he had no choice in the matter. He was going to hear about this for weeks!

And Then He Falls [for regalblaze]
Of everything that have ever been asked of him, of everything that the last thirty some odd years of his life has demanded of him, nothing has ever been harder than requiring him to stand there and watch his best friend start the long walk up those stairs into the Citadel, knowing that Noctis is going to his death. It's a thousand times harder than having to turn around and look to the massive Giants coming out of the ground, knowing all too well that they might be dying here in giving Noctis enough time to save the damn world. Whatever world might come out of this. What will it matter when Noctis is dead? Maybe this is just a final stand, enough time to live to see the dawn. Somehow, he's both the most afraid and the most determined he's ever been, leaving him in some horrible emotional flux that might almost come across as calm if it wasn't for the tears streaking down his cheeks.
But he holds his gun at the ready, looking solidly forward.
"Last one to kill their giant buys the first round," he calls out, a half-hearted joke as the ground finishes ripping open and the giants stand there.
"Deal," Gladio replies, bringing the massive great sword around in front of him, his eyes more determined than Prompto had ever seen him, but only the faint light shining gave away the tears.
Prompto looks over at Ignis, steeling himself, prepared to do everything to help protect Ignis and without a doubt that Gladio would do the same. He feared for Ignis, really for both of his friends, because with Noctis gone... he is, was, their lives. His, too.
Maybe it's just the death of all of them, no matter what outcome befalls them.

Luxray, I Choose You!
1. Oh man. Adventure! Excitement! They're going to find it and photograph it, just him and Eevee. However, there's a huge world out there and he has pretty much nothing beyond his curiosity, excitement, and serious love of Pokemon to guide him along. So, unsurprisingly, it isn't long before Prompto finds himself in a bit of danger, doing it all wrong because it's immediately obvious he's trying to protect his Eevee instead of the other way around!
2. The Luxray who is currently holding onto the jeans of the photographer hanging over the edge of a cliff, trying to get a photograph of something-- wait, there's a nest of something there-- but the poor Pokemon has a look of 'this is my life now' as he manages to keep the blond from falling to his death. It's a damn big Luxray and thankfully the photographer is a skinny little thing. Sitting near the Luxray is a Vaporeon looking amused, paws over the edge of the cliff, watching curiously. Clearly, this guy is crazy. Worth investigating?
3. There's a picnic spread out and there's a team bounding around, curious and playing, asleep or eating. They're just off the trail, tucked into a mixed patch of sun and shadow under a tree. There's a Vaporeon playing in a nearby stream, a Staraptor picking at some pellets, and... a sleeping trainer with his back tucked up to a Luxray and an egg tucked up in the circle of his arm. A gruff sound from the Luxray as he spots another coming makes the trainer jerk awake - "I swear I didn't eat that cookie!" - before looking around in confusion.

A Figure of Note [Yuri, Prompto]
Standing there, he realized how badly he missed it.
It wasn't like he didn't get any chance to skate, far from it. Noct always liked him around to practice with, even if, despite people's comments, he knew he wasn't as good as his friend. Noct always looked so utterly perfect, an almost lazy grace and strength that Prompto knew other skaters thought meant he didn't take the sport seriously but he knew Noct did, more than any of them.
But watching the skaters out there, getting his first chance to photograph a real expo, he missed this. Didn't matter though. He had never been good enough for the professionals, not after... that. He'd learned his lesson.
Instead he was on the sidelines, snagging pictures. He loved it, don't get him wrong. Being the youngest photographer there by probably a decade because he was considered that good? Yeah. Hell of an ego boost. In this he felt secure. And being able to photograph Insomnia's opening expo to the world? Well, it helped to be one of the skater's best friends. Not going to complain.
It was incredible! Everyone was so good! He might have sighed happily at how Noct looked in his outfit and makeup that Iggy had spent forever to do this morning. Couldn't ask for a better coach, really.
Once everything was said and done though, he was heading out to meet up with the guys, staring down at his camera and studying the best shots he'd gotten. The Russian had a few really good snaps... they would sell well!
Now if only he was looking where he was going...

Ears and Tails and Purrs, oh my?!

An unknown monster, a chimera of parts of so many other creatures, with unknown abilities, but before any of you realize what's happening, you're covered in a mist that you can't help but breathe in. Before you can get your bearings, your lungs rebel against the silvery mist, burning, until... blackness.
When you wake up - alone, together - you'll rapidly discover something's... different. Your hearing is far more acute, which would be from the new ears tucked up on top of your head. Your balance is off, thanks to the tail behind you.
What else has changed? You might need to figure out, and fast. Who knows how long the effects will last?
