Something, somehow, went horribly wrong.

The last thing he remembered was racing towards the massive machine the Nifs had built in the middle of their compound, then hearing something over head like a storm cloud. In a second between one shot and the next, though he's pretty sure he had missed because of the thick smoke, he had a chance to glance up. There, above them all, bigger than anything he had ever seen in his life, stood what could only be one of the Astrals, charging with lightning that jumped over his skin and staff. It would be the last image he would carry with him for a while because when the Astral struck the machine at Noctis' command, the resulting explosion sent him into darkness.

"Hnn..."

The faint groan as his head started to realize consciousness was a thing. Ow... his whole body was achingly sore, so was his head, but all he could do was slowly turn over onto his side, trying to piece together any two thoughts beyond 'ow' and 'ow'. While most would have panicked that their weapon wasn't in hand, if he had gotten unconscious or heck, even so much as dropped it, it would disappear into the armiger to be resummoned, so that was less of a concern as making sure no limbs where broken. Okay, arms moved, legs moved, hands, toes... all right!

Until he opened his eyes and realized he had no idea where he was in the least. Nothing about this place - it looked like some sort of weird warehouse, maybe? - looked familiar, other than sort of disturbing similararity to something out of Nifelheim. Prompto drew himself up, listening carefully. No foot steps, no signs of anyone never mind his friends. What happened-- oh right, the giant old thunder man, Noctis! Where are they?! Did he like, get blown so far away that no one knew where he was?!

So he scrambled up to his feet, looking around, then headed for the door.

He had no idea that the clunkclunk of his heavy boots were catching the ears of something out there, hunting, hungry.
